How to improve your essay Ep.7: Complex sentences

ถ้าเราเข้าไปดูในวิธีการตรวจ writing ของ IELTS ดีๆ เเล้วเนี่ย complex sentences ก็เป็นอีกหนึ่งปัจจัยในการให้คะเเนนของเค้า ซึ่งสำหรับ Beginners ที่อยากจะเพิ่มคะแนนพาท writing แล้วเนี่ย ep. จะช่วยคุณได้เเน่ๆ

อย่างเเรกเลยคือ Complex sentences ประกอบไปด้วย 2 อย่างหลักๆ คือ

• Independent clause – ประโยคที่อยู่เดี่ยวๆไม่ได้ ต้องมีตัวเสริมมาช่วย

• Dependent clause – ประโยคที่เขียนได้ลอยๆ ไม่ต้องเสริมเติมเเต่งเพิ่ม

Complex sentence ต้องมี Dependent clause กับ Independent clause อย่าง

น้อย 1 ประโยค ที่ต้องมีตัวเสริมมาเชื่อมเพื่อให้ประโยคสมบูรณ์

ตัวเสริมที่ว่านั้นก็คือพวก Subordinating conjunction เช่น…

อีกอย่างนึงที่ควรรู้เวลาเขียน complex sentences คือ (,) comma จะถูกใช้เมื่อไม่มี Subordinating มาเชื่อม ให้ใช่ (,) ไว้เลย

Examples

Independent clause = IC , Dependent clause = DC

“Joshua and I went on a date (DC) after I asked him out. (IC)”

“Joshua is a one of my best friends (DC) who would always help his friends when they are in need of something.”

“Since we were young, I would invite Joshua, who is my best friend, to go to the park where we hangout until the sun would leave the sky.”

จากที่เห็นเนี่ย ประโยคจะมี DC หนึ่งประโยค แต่ IC มีได้หลายอัน ซึ่งนอกจากทำให้ประโยคยาวขึ้นเเล้วเนี่ย ยังสื่อถึงความเข้าใจในภาษา ทำให้ essay มีอะไรมากขึ้น ฝึกเขียนเยอะๆ คะแนนเพิ่มล้าน %
