What is Giga press
A set of die casting machines or aluminium dies made in Italy by Idra Group and provided to Tesla’s manufacture is known as a “giga press.” With a clamping power of 5,600 to 6,200 tf and a huge high-pressure die casting, this showpiece weighs between 410 and 430 tonnes.
The work of Giga press
The furnace will receive approximately 80 kg of cold aluminium as coolant at a speed of 36 km/hr. With this equipment, it takes about 80 to 90 seconds to stamp metal into vehicles. It can make a car’s body for 40 to 45 vehicles in an hour, resulting in around 1000 cars each day.
The advantage of giga press
1. Reduce cost: Giga press reduces the number of processes, eliminates robots, and decreases a part of transportation.
2. Quality Improvement: Giga press is enhanced to improve the quality of cars for reliability and efficiency.

The disadvantage of giga press
1. Hard to repair: To repair a giga press, we must repair every part of the casting machine, which is very expensive.
2. A challenging to make a high-quality car’s body or battery tray.

Giga press technology is still a significant manufacturing achievement, particularly for sectors like the automotive industry where large-scale production is essential.
